Velocity Innovation Challenge Terms & Conditions 

Submission of any entry constitutes agreement to these official rules as a contract between an entrant (and each individual member of entrant), and Telenor Velocity.

                     Velocity Innovation Challenge as “Challenge”

1. Dates and Timing

                Phase 1: Registrations with Prototypes: October 15, 2024 – November 30, 2024 (11:59 pm PST) 

                     Phase 2: MVP Submissions: December 2, 2024 – January 15, 2025

                     Phase 3: Demo day at TP HQ 345: On or around January 22, 2025

2. Eligibility

The Innovation Challenge IS open to:

         Individuals who are at least the age of majority where they reside as of the time of entry (“Eligible Individuals”).

(the above are collectively, “Entrants”)

An Eligible Individual may join a Team or Organization (startup) and an Eligible Individual who is part of a Team or Organization may also enter the Innovation Challenge on an individual basis. If a Team or Organization is entering the Innovation Challenge, they must appoint and authorize one individual (the “Representative”) to represent, act, and enter a Submission, on their behalf. By entering a Submission on behalf of a Team or Organization you represent and warrant that you are the Representative authorized to act on behalf of your Team or Organization.

The Innovation Challenge IS NOT open to:

         Organizations (including corporations, not-for-profit corporations and other nonprofit organizations, limited liability companies, partnerships, and other legal entities) that exist and have been organized or incorporated at the time of entry.

         Any other individual or organization whose participation in the Hackathon would create, in the sole discretion of Telenor Pakistan, a real or apparent conflict of interest.

3. How To Enter

Entrants may enter by visiting velocity.devpost.com (“Innovation Challenge Website”) and following the below steps:

1.                  Register for the Innovation Challenge on the Challenge Website by clicking the “Join Challenge” button. To complete registration, sign up to create a free Devpost account, or log in with an existing Devpost account. This will enable you to receive important updates and to create your Submission.

2.                  Use of any tools or third-party resources will be subject to the license agreement related thereto. Entry in the Innovation Challenge constitutes consent for Telenor Velocity to collect and maintain an entrant’s personal information for the purpose of operating and publicizing the Innovation Challenge.

3.               To participate for cash prizes, create a wireframe, design, or presentation that visually represents your Project’s features and functionality. (“Idea Submission”).

4.               Complete and enter all the required fields on the “Registration” page of the Innovation Challenge Website during the Registration Period and follow the requirements below.

Registration Requirements

         What to Do: Entrants must respond to all registration fields given on the form.

         Optional Idea Submission: create a wireframe, design, or presentation for a new tool or resource to help participants of hackathons (each an “Idea Submission”). Requirements for an Idea Submission include:

·                Functionality: The Idea does not need to be a fully built application; however, a prototype is mandatory to be submitted.

·                Text Description. Include a text description that should explain the features and functionality of your idea along with an explanation of why you chose it and what problems it would solve.

·                Include a visual representation of your idea by sharing a slide deck or a short video in a shareable format. The visual portion of the submission:

                                                              i.      should take less than five (5) minutes to watch

                                                             ii.      should include how the Idea is meant to function

                                                           iii.      must not include third party trademarks, or copyrighted music or other material unless the Entrant has permission to use such material.

                     New Projects: Idea Submissions must be newly created by the Entrant after the start of the Challenge Registration Period.

                     Third Party Tools: If an Idea Submission makes use of third-party tools and/or data, Entrant must be authorized to use them.

                     Testing: The Entrant must make the Project available free of charge and without any restriction, for testing, evaluation and use by Telenor Velocity and Judges until the Judging Period ends.

Submissions to the Innovation Challenge must meet the following requirements:

1.                  Be the original work of the submitter, be solely owned by the submitter, and not violate the IP rights of any other person or entity.

2.                  Multiple Submissions: An Entrant may submit more than one Idea Submission, however, each submission must be unique and substantially different from each of the Entrant’s other submissions, as determined by the Telenor Velocity in their sole discretion.

Language Requirements

All Submission materials must be in English.

4. General Terms & Conditions

                     Telenor Velocity reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Challenge, or any part of it, in the event of a technical failure, fraud, or any other factor or event that was not anticipated or is not within their control.

                     Telenor Velocity reserves the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any individual or Entrant if it finds to be actually or presenting the appearance of tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Challenge or to be acting in violation of these Terms & Conditions or in a manner that is inappropriate, unsportsmanlike, not in the best interests of this Challenge, or a violation of any applicable law or regulation.

                     Any attempt by any person to undermine the proper conduct of the Challenge may be a violation of criminal and civil law. Should Telenor Velocity suspect that such an attempt has been made or is threatened, they reserve the right to take appropriate action available under the law.

                     If there is any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions and disclosures or other statements contained in any Challenge materials, including but not limited to the Challenge Registration form, Challenge Website, or advertising, the terms and conditions shall prevail.

                     These Terms & Conditions are subject to change at any time, including the rights or obligations of the Entrant and Telenor Velocity. Telenor Velocity will post the amended terms and conditions on the Challenge Website.

                     If at any time prior to the deadline, an Entrant or prospective Entrant believes that any term in the Official Rules is or may be ambiguous, they must submit a written request for clarification.

5. Judging/ Selectors & Criteria

Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of Experts selected by Telenor Velocity (the “Experts”). The Experts may be employees of Telenor Pakistan or third parties, may or may not be listed individually on the Challenge Website, and may change before or during the evaluation Period. Evaluation may take place in one or more rounds with one or more panels of experts, at the discretion of Telenor Velocity.

Stage One: The first stage (Prototype Phase) will determine via pass/fail whether the Idea Submissions meet a baseline level of viability, in that the idea reasonably fits the theme and reasonably applied effort to present it.

Stage Two: All submissions that pass Stage One will be further evaluated in Stage Two (MVP Phase) based on the following equally weighted criteria (the “Selecting Criteria”):

Entries will be evaluated on the following criteria, and according to the sole and absolute discretion of the judges:

Idea Submission and Prototype

Idea submissions will be evaluated on the following equally weighted criteria:

                     Desirability - How wide would the solution appeal to the farming community.

                     Viability - How widely would the solution fit the existing Mobile Agri platform of Telenor Pakistan.

                     Readily Usable - How far did the participant go to build out the Prototype. How well thought out is the project and its user experience.

The scores from the Judges will determine the potential winner (s) of the Challenge. The Entrant(s) that are eligible for a Prize, and whose Submissions earn the highest overall scores based on the applicable Judging Criteria, will become potential winners of that Prize.

6. Our Offering

                     The winner of the Challenge will receive a seed fund of PKR 1million.

                     Commercial business partnership opportunity with Telenor Pakistan

                     A chance to scale your product through Telenor Velocity Accelerator (mentorship, networking opportunities, PR & Outreach, branding and marketing, BI analytics)

                     The winner will keep the solution exclusive till it signs an agreement with Telenor where the Parties will agree to the terms and conditions.

Telenor shall have the discretion to select or refuse any participant and their solution, and the said right shall not be challenged whatever the case may be.

7. Disclaimer

Telenor Velocity hereby disclaims all liability for any direct, indirect, implied, punitive, special incidental or other consequential damage arising directly or indirectly from during or after the project/program/solution etc.
